It was a magical place…

It’s the place where Beauty and the Beast first met, where Cinderella lost her shoe, where Prince What’s-His-Name rescued Sleeping Beauty, it’s even the place where Harry Potter rode his broomstick.

As children we believed in “Happily Ever Afters”, a prince arriving on a white horse. Childhood, the one place where we had unlimited imagination… Nowadays the world only exists as a little ball of logic circling around the sun… No one believes in flying carpets and dancing fairies anymore. We wouldn’t watch ‘Mickey Mouse’ without wondering how he could be alarmed by a little mouse running across the room.

Sometimes my mind drifts back to those carefree days. Where you could kiss a frog, tie your scarf to your hair and sing sweet little songs next to the open window.

I would wander through the house, climb up the imaginary stairs, braid my ridiculously “long” hair, put on my crown, sing to the birds, stroll through the “forrest” in our backyard, run away from the dragons, swim in the pool with my beautiful mermaid’s tail…

Where did we lose our creative imagination? When did we lose it? Why? Maybe because we developed logic and couldn’t get past the obvious: No one had the same shoe size as Cinderella- impossible!

Maybe it’s time to leave our sanity behind for a minute and start believing in unicorns, flying elephants and dashing princes again… Besides, where would we be without our imagination? Well, definitely not in Disney World.
