Take Snow White for instance. Doesn’t her castle just seem lovely? Everything is just la-di-da and wonderful. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there are poisonous apples hiding behind the door.
It is exactly like that on social media. On the surface everything is amazing. Everyone is going through life without any struggles or speedbumps. Their hair and make-up are perfect when they ‘wake up’. Nobody is having a tough day, and nobody is overweight. But, as I have learned, everyone has skeletons in their closets.
Keeping up a fairy-tale-front and posting the most perfect photo is usually hiding the much bigger picture. Social media is like a mask or veil that hides our true selves. We can pick and choose who we want to be and keep our true colours hidden. Most people want to be accepted by society and therefore does not show their hardships and uphill paths.
On the surface everyone has a happy and magical life. It is only rainbows and unicorns. But on the inside, where it is too dark for others to see, it can be the exact opposite.
Nobody is perfect. There are always speedbumps on the road, and thorns on a beautiful flower.
